Hi, noob question again.

whats the benefit of having a 20k over 14k besides color?

I currently have a Current USA Sunpod HQI Fixture on my 40g tank. It comes with 2 150w HQI 14k and thinking about swapping them out to have better coloration in the tank. I have mainly SPS and LPS with some mushrooms and a crocea clam on the sand bed.

hey man

the only BENIFIT "if you want to call it that" would be a bluer color. Corals will normally grow better under the 14k than 20k. Your tank will also look less "bright" than with a lower K bulb. You'll want to do some homework because the blueness of 20k bulbs vary GREATLY with manufacters.

If it were me I would swap only ONE of the bulbs out at first and see if it give you the color you desire before buying 2 bulbs and having it look too blue.

hmm. I have mostly frags dont think I can afford stunting growth. id rather have colonies as oppose to stubs of corals that look cute. i just really want a slightly blue color than what it is now.

change of plan. adding actinic tubes instead.
