I know they are filter feeders, but can to many become an issue? I have them growing like weeds. There are the type that build (i guess they do) their own tubes which are white in color. There are a ton of them, but they are not huge. I would assume that it means the conditions in the tank are really good. Does anyone have different opinions, or I am okay not to worry?

I have these things come and go in waves like you are describing. Basically my experiance has been that they will flourish while there is adequate nutrition for them in the water.. then they will decline.. a lot like pods and things do. I don't think they are harmful to much of anything.

I had a lot more than I do now.. until I added my peppermint shrimp.. could have been a coincidence.. but a bunch disappeared after I added them

i put some caulerpa in my hospital tank for the 2 ich infested tangs, and it had some of these dusters attached. they sure don't like copper! dead as doornails. they look pretty ugly without that cover on them and the pretty feathery thing extended. 8O

Yeah I have some of those in my fuge as well. I have a ton that are similiar on my live rocks. They really like something in my tank.

I had several for a year and a half never had a problem with them they add beauty to the reef tank.However if they are breeding out of control it would be a concern to me to.
