Red Sea Calcium test question

Okay, i use to have an aquarium pharm. Calcium test, and everytime I took my water to the LFS his calcuim reading was much lower than mine. I know A P test kits are normally not the best, so I bought the red sea. I keep getting readings of 300 - 350 calcium. Yesterday day I added a bunch of Oceans Blend part 1 (calcium) and today after my water change I get 300. I checked the new water going in and got 350.


Does anyone have any similiar expierences? My other test kit was always showing a good level. I keep adding doses of calcium and get it up to 350, but never 400 range. I


Could this just be a new tank thing?

It has been almost 2 months, but this issue has gone on for about 2 weeks. Thanks

stick with the test kit that always gives you good levels :lol: :lol:

Well I would agree with that, but if that test kit is not suppose to be a good one, then either way i am screwed. I am trying to figure out if I should add more calcium today or not. I think tomorrow I will go buy another test kit locally. At the very least the Aquarium Pharm since I threw my old one away.


Come to think of it, in my old tank all I ever used was the Aquarium Pharm test kit and my corals were fine and had good growth. Silly me I forgot the golden rule, if it's not broken dont try and fix it. Glad we all had this little talk.

i use the same one...and nothing has died due to faulty testing materials....YET. so...i think you'll be fine.

Which one red sea?

aquarium pharm, i also have a seachem test kit which tells me the same results, so i assume these are accurate.

My aquarium Pharm. tests have alway been a little off. Something about the little Doc wellfish on the side of those test vials. 8O After spending near 10 G's.......... Salifert all the way baby!!!
