Hi guys,

I have been running a 40g fish only tank for about 5 years now and have been slowly converting it to a reef tank.

My tank at the moment is stocked with 4 fishes, 6 snails, 7 hermit crabs, 3 LPS and 3 frags of SPS which are all doing well but I am running out of space because I only have about 25-30lbs of live rocks aquascaped into an arch in the middle of my tank with 1" sand bed.

The local fish store where I live have "Semi-cured live rocks" that I am considering to put directly into my tank. is this safe?

That's not a good idea. Adding semi cured rock to an existant tank will only cause an ammonia spike as it dies off, and that isn't good for the inhabitants.

What you can do is just finish curing the "semi cured" rock yourself in a separate container (one of those el cheapo rubbermaid tubs works well) and add it to your tank afterwards.
