Just givin ya a hard time.. - I have a seaclone sitting around somewhere still and yeah, I guess it did work fine for me too.. - Though, like I mentioned about the whole "performance vector" thing, bigger does do more..

Thats not always a good thing though too.. - For instance, if I told you that you NEEDED a huge skimmer, eventually someone will chime in that you can actually overskim. (Whether thats totally true or not I still haven't found out - I can't afford to blow the $$ on expensive equipment just to try and give my tank issues..)

Theres actually quite a few of these "theory blackholes" in reefkeeping where it really comes down to personal opinion because no one has really done a thoroughly exhaustive and intensive soundly scientific study on the entire issue.

And even if someone does do something like that and come up with results that everyone can agree on..... - Well.... - #2 and #3 will still stand true. :)

Do you have pics of your tank posted yet? - You know us addicts loves us some pics right?? ;)

I know you were just messing with me, thats cool. I am going to buy a new camera this weekend, and post some pics by the end of the weekend. I will have a Special picture proudly displaying my SEA CLONE 100 at the top of the list... Take care, and thanks for the much needed input.

dnorton,

I felt the same way you did. Don't get dazed, confused or discouraged!!! It's working for you. That does count for something. You have been having it working really well for you for 8 mos now.

You must read everyone's advice and make your own conclusion. What works for you may not work for another. As long as you are having success, keep it up.

The only real advice for a bioload as you have, test water often. Make sure your levels are good.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

X2.

I once kept, about 12 years ago, a FO 30 gal tank with more than 12 fishes for more than 4 years with all fishes thriving. Just had a 1" sand bed, a few rocks I collected from the beach (I lived in the Caribbean by that time) and a HOT with two biowheels. My ammonia, nitrites and nitrates were always 0. I bought different test kits 'cause I thought they were not working properly. Had to give it up when I moved to a rental since I was building a new house.

I do appreciate the feedback. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Amazing information about the 30 gal tank you once had. Just goes to show that if its not broken dont try and fix it ( i guess). Trying to get some good practice though. In about 6 months or so i plan on upgrading to a much larger tank, so i am taking everything in and forming my own conclusions. Thanks again.. Oh i will have some pics posted sometime tomorrow if anybody is interested...
