Cloudy water

New to reef keeping. Kept fowl for many years no problem. Have had a reef set up for about 1.5 months. 29 gal with 45#'s live rock 12 snails 4 hermit crabs, green mushrooms,star polyps,1 leather coral. Equipment cpr backpack skimmer and 110gph for circulation also 1.5 -2.0 inches of live sand for substrate. I am having trouble with cloudy water? Beside that everything is fine.[/b]

For a reef, you will need to increase that to about a 30x turnover in the tank. About 900 GPH. The CPR is so minor I wouldnt count that as circulation. For cloudy water you may need to run a HOB carbon filter to polish the water. YOu could also use a small filter sock with about 1/2 cup of carbon in the skimmer body. You have to be careful that is doesnt clog and back up the skimmer though.
