OK it isn't ich He is in a hospital tank with copper right now.
it started out like ich but it was kinda like a tube with streams that grew on him, about 30 or 30 or so. only a few were long, about a 16th of an inch
anybody know what it could be? will copper help this situation?

not sure exactly what it is but his appetite never declined and never acted differently or rubbing or anything abnormal.
anybody ever see little tubes growin off of a fish and will copper treat this problem,
thanks for any info

hey thanks, I was really curious what it was. I can tell by your thorough answer you are confident in your diagnosis of this problem. Your advise has helped me completely... your the best! thanks.

.....the copper does appear to be helping, but there are still little traces of it around it's mouth. the streamers appear to be gone for now around it's fins. I thought copper was going to knock this off in a matter of days but it hasn't.

Thats why the ladies call me DR. Yeah baby.

I think you are on the right track Chris. I use copper when I get sick fish. Hey, you still runnin that UV? I am and have not had a sick fish yet. I even have my powder blue still alive, and never been sick yet. I think UV's are a good investment.
