hey I have had my water tested and have realized that my alkalinity is a little low it was at 6 and I was told it should be between 9 and 12

My moment of dumbness came when i decided just to dump in the alk buffer straight into my tank. the powder landed on my green star polyp and it closed immediately and now has been closed for a day.

How big of a problem is this.

I read the directions after the fact and it says to disolve in some water first. I have been adding it in my water when doing water changes but I only needed to top off today and just put some directly into the tank.
any advice?
thanks,
shavs

IMO it will not be fatal - GSPs are pretty tough to kill. You could try flushing them with a turkey baster or powerhead to help things along.

Assuming we're talking dKH, 6 is not all that low (keep in mind that 7 is NSW conditions). IMO anything from 7-10 is ideal. No need or benefit (IME) to running it higher.

hey thank you, I seriously love this site and all it offers. I just was nervous i have two other colonies of star polyps but felt bad it hasn't opened yet and felt bad. i like to try to do things right and don't want to kill things on my mistakes.

thank you!!!!
