Could it mean that the pump is biased towards producing flow vrs pressure. For an example a Tunze Stream would be flow-biased and a powerhead would be pressure-biased?
Flow based pumps move lots of water but the volume drops quickly with head pressure, typically these style pump are not power hogs and the draw can be reduced when you slow them down. They are great for closed loops and return pumps where pressure is not required.
Hey Leslie.. I got 2 ReefFlo pumps from Tony at ReefExotics. I love them so far and they use ALOT less electricity than pressured "biased" pumps. Only thing is that you will have to use a 2" bulkhead on the intake side of the pump. It was worth the work though!
