my purple LTA has been in the same spot for quite a while now, until the day before yesterday when he decided to relocate to a spot in the back of the tank out of the range of the halides. he is getting light from the newly installed orbit fixture, but i fear this will not be enough.
i imagine people are going to tell me that it will move if it needs to, but being the brainless animal that it is, i can't help but want to give him a helping hand.
leave him alone, or move him? what is the popular vote?

If it was me I would give him a couple days and see how he does. If he starts to look different and does not move on his own, then that little bugger would get some assistance from me..

My anenome has been in hiding behind all of my rock work out of direct light for near three weeks during its recovery from the intake. It will move when it needs the light. Self preservation is going to be more important than hiding. I would leave it alone. In my case, I am liking the fact that my clowns are less of a nuicance on a daily basis.

It'll move till it finds a spot it likes. They're wierd like that. What size tank/lights etc? I've always had luck when they find a spot with decent flow lighting. Possilbe to much light? Grabbing at straws without knowing your specs :D

the tank is a 125. too much light? hmm. i was under the impression that anemone needed halide lighting in order to survive, unless of course the tank was shallow.
he still eats well. he's been consuming the equivelant of a medium sized shrimp a week.

Leave it alone, brainless animal or not ;) it still "knows" best what it needs in terms of light and current to survive.

 Wow, that is one real picture. DIRTY
Yep, your LTA does appear to be bleaching. Do you feed it? Do you have enough flow for it? Are your parameters perfect? Maybe your clown is harrasing it too much. Or those shrimp during feeding for that matter.
