Lighting Question

From everything that I've read so far I understand that watts per gallon is no longer useful, but I just don't understand how to calculate what I need without using wpg. I have a standard 55G (48X13X20) and I'd like to keep soft corals only.

Some Options that I've found reasonably priced:
T5HO - 216 Watts
PC - 260 Watts

As I said, I just want to keep soft corals and I don't want to break the bank (yet). Any advice?

Hi and :welcome:

Either setup should be fine for your purposes.

If the T-5 setup has good quality individual lamp reflectors I would expect it to be brighter than the PC setup.
