What are you techniques for feeding SPS corals? I ask becauase when i target feed SPS it just floats on by, and don't feel like it has accomplished anything. I hope that whatever floats by - they're actually feeding/absorbing/whatever.

Thoughts are appreciated

Not an expert, but it seems to me there is a wide variety of views on this. Some say your sps will get all the nutrition they need from fish poop or even pvc fittings in your tank (!).

Target feeding will not, with most SPS get a feeding response as such, AFAIK, but maybe others will chime in.

I see quite a feeding response from DT's oyster eggs with my acroporas , and from Liquidlife coral plankton with my Montiporas......

Just me, but when I feed my corals period I like to turn off all my pumps and power heads for 30 min. give or take. By doing this the target feeding lingers around for a longer time period. Does this actually make any difference????
Man, I could not tell you, but in my mind it makes sense, so i do it.

Just my 2 cents. 8)

I think the key to this is to feed with various sizes of foods.

I feed, mysis, brine, zooplankton, phytoplankton, cyclops, blood worms, and sometimes daphnia. I also soak in zoecon or other omega fatty acid suppl.

My tangs love the bloodworms and mysis

I turn the return pump off for about 40mins to 1hr. and let the recic pumps keep water moving. then i fire it all back up.

Exactly, I use about four prawns, a bit of salmon, two fresh steamer clams and juice (they are a PITA to pry open) three cubes of formula one and then blend it up until the formula one is small enough for chromis to eat. Then I add thawed mysis, squid and baby brine shrimp to the mix. They dont get chopped up. I then spatula the mix into old mysis etc. cube packs and ziplock freeze it.

I feed one cube a day to my 120 with 40 corals, 8, fish and various inverts. The mix lasts about 1 1/2 months. The tangs get nori treats as well.
