Sorry to take so long to reply. Christmas has this place real quiet. I bought some of my LR from here. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scat ... pCatId=393 A mix of base rock and fiji select. I wouldnt recommend the base rock for anything but that (you get what you pay for). The fiji select was fine. I would recommend getting some of your LR on line and get a few key show pieces from your LFS to assure the finished look you want. Ohter places that have been posted here as good sites are.

If you get most of what you need online and save some room to get a few real cool pieces from the Expensive LFS you wont be dissapointed. That method was recommended to me. I did and have never regreted it.

No matter what online place you go with, just make sure you call them and specifically TELL them what size tank you have, what you have in mind, and what size pieces you'd like to get. Almost all will work with you. I have a 40 gallon and ended up with 1 30lb boulder (Live Aquaria). Live and learn. Don't make my mistake. Also, it might be cheaper to pay $8-10 a lb at a LFS once you add in shipping costs. Plus you know exactly what your getting for your money beforehand.

You can get the thin foam insulation at home improvement or hardware stores. Check the rigid insulation section at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

If you're using a factory stand (or a properly made DIY stand) you don't need the foam IMO/IME. Personally I have never used it on any of my tanks and never had a problem. On a large tank it might be a worthwhile precaution.

You can get it at home depot. I was going to use it on my 40 gallon tank w/DIY stand, but decided there really wasn't a need for it. I agree with Chris though, if it was a bigger tank I'd probably do it just as a precaution.

You also need to make sure where you're ordering from is not simply dropshipping the rock. Otherwise it doesn't matter what you ask for, you're going to get what was packed in the box after it was collected and it will be nothing more than luck of the draw.
