I haven't seen my wrasse for 3 days now, anyone have a trick to find him? The tank is 40" deep. Seems to come out in the morning, but not lately.

maybe shake out that castle? might be in there stuck somewhere.

That is a great idea. I have found over the years that plastic logs, etc have holes into dead ends that fish can get stuck in and die. I have lost more than one fish in that manner. I would recommend using a more natural aquascaping for that reason only.

Well, I suppose it is goimg to be a deep game of hide and seek. The castle is gone and thankfully no stuck/dead fish.

Any ideas on what I can fill (fish proof) that goofy castle with, it seems to be a huge hit for my daughter and the flame hawk.

i think if you really want it in there, put it back in. but when i ran my freshwater 75 i had these branch like things that were molds, and they had small areas where fish would go up inside, and either get stuck and die, or just go in there to die. either way, i had a nitrate issue and couldn't figure out why, until i pulled the ornament.
just make sure any holes going in the castle have equal holes coming out.

I have pulled it for now. I did notice I was getting some brown algae and checked the parameters, and the nitrates were up around 20 ppm. I have added some purigen in the canister and will watch for them to come down with the ornament removed.

Any suggestion on how to aquascape the back of this tank? I don't think I can stack rock that high. I have heard of the pvc frame but havent seen one to know how well it really works. Here is a pic, about 30" to go

Shavo....wow you are a rock addict. Looks good, can you tell me what kind of bit and what type/size post you used? I didn't see any of that info unless I looked in the wrong thread. It would be cool to do a large arch on my back wall with a center rock post for support.....wow that's like another 500# of rock....jeeze.

Well joke is on me I suppose. After seeing a slight rise in ammonia, my concern that the wrasse was truly dead and I needed to get him outa there. So with a homemade sand dredging tool and moving hudreds of pounds of rock the little sucker popped out of the sand and quickly rebourghed himself. :D

Of course it was in the very last place I dredged! :(

Off to get an ammonia test confirmation, says .20 up from .0
