Hey, Mr. X I have to say that the fuge is up and running but the wet/dry isn't, it is absolutley impossible to do both. Anybody in RDO have any advice on how to run two different filters with two different overflow boxes. I actually put in valves to regulate them but one starves the other and visa versa. I took the wet dry out and I am going to use the fuge for now. or atleast try. It looks stable but i left to go out and now maybe my basement is flooded.
Oh well tomorrow is a whole new day and I have more money to spend tomorrow

Also I think i am going to dissasemble my wet/dry and use the protien skimmer in the fuge, think it can be done?

wet/drys are unnecessary in a reef tank, you'll be better off without it.

i have a wet/dry in my wife's 125. she wanted it. i have since taken out the bioballs, replaced them with LR rubble and some macros...lol....and put a light on it :lol:

hey can you run a wet/dry with live rock and water dripping on it with macros with a light on it? can you do this?

Becausethe kind of beneficial bacteria that is best for a reef tank doesn't do well "wet/dry", it needs to be submerged all the time

i guess you can.....i'm doing it.
it's only for temporary, but the issue with it is -you really want some sort of bed for the plants to root in, and the creatures to dwell in, and there's no place for that in a wet/dry really, unless you glue in some partitions....see where i slid in the partitions that are basically doing nothing?
you might want to actually GLUE something in there maybe.
but honestly, it's a waste of time. go buy a tank.

HI all, I just wanted to give props to Mr. X for going out of his way to help me out with my tank. He bought me a refugium and delivered it and set it up!! And I am very happy with it. In all my liver poisoning I never gave the proper thanks!!!!

I bought and ETSS pro 72 sump. I use the sediment bags ( i think there called) and live rock. (No light)

I was under the impression from my past readings that bio balls were garbage and you use live rock rubble instead of bio balls. If I am correct your saying as well you need to add mud and plants to make it a refugium ?

A refugium means different things to different people. All it is is a place separate from the main tank with plantlife or rock or whatever.
