:? I have a new 90 gall All-Glass with built in overflow and their model 3 sump. Im using a Ehim 1262 pump. Why does my water in the overflow constantly change height about a inch. Its girglying and making very loud noise. It seems like the drain doesn't keep up with the return or the drain isn't getting enough air. Has anybody else had this problem?

my overflow has a little bit of airline shoved down into the tube...and it breaks the suction noise. i had to adjust the depth of this tube before i got a quiet overflow.

did i explain that ok for ya?

I had the same problem. I have an Oceanic sump and there is a glass plate that my return hose is hooks up to. Well I had my return hose in a bind (my couplings were pushing on the floss and constricting the rate of flow) which made the water flow inconsistant. Also my return chamber would run dry and the pump would get bubbles. AGA also makes Oceanic.

So did you stick the hose down the overflow box or the drain tube. My drain tube has a hole on the top for air. That is what seems to be the problem it seems like the hole needs to be larger.

ahh..that's a different type. does it have a hole on the drain part?..the inside part of the bulkhead? if so, you can shove a small piece of airline tubing down there a bit until the noise stops..it will stop the sucking sound.

I have the same problem. I just got my fuge put in tonight. I did not add substrate or macro yet. It is really gurgling, and bubbling like crazy. I did not have this issue with my wet dry. I tried the air tubing, and it still made the same noise. The only difference I saw was the water level in the overflows would go up and down, which produced some noise too. With out changing plumbing what else can I do.

Through expiermenting I solved that problem. I had slotted pvc pieces attached to elbows at the ends. My hopes were that would cut down on some of the bubbles. It did, however it created all that noise. As for getting rid of some of the bubbles shoud I use a prefilter and clean it weekly? Or are the micro bubbles I am getting right now just because I just set it up?
