RTN. Some hydno can recover from it, but from the pics, it does not look like it will :(

The 'shroom is not happy about the rotten tissue. Make sure you got your skimmer working well.

Actually, there is still some hope fot he tips near the top right. Keep your fingers crossed, and wish you luck.

RTN? what is the cause?..do you know? too much light? there is no other possible reason. the thing that puzzles me most is this happened immediately, after about a month of good health in my tank.

That coral is not a SPS, it is an LPS.

It could be too much light or flow. Shelter it a bit and see what happens.

Looks like too much light for it. Didnt you just upgrade?
RTN can happer REAL fast. That why thgey call it rapid TN and not slow TN. It may be best to just frag it now and save what you can.

I see why you bring this up, since the term RTN is usually refers to SPS. However, I just want to point out that rather Hydnophora is SPS or LPS is still matter of debate (FWIW, many consider the skeleton to be more SPSish than anything else), just like trying to find out what cause the tissue to came off like that from a photo without forensic or pathologic technique is meant to be taken with a grain of salt.

i did even out my light throughout the tank better, but THIS coral has always been under the same amount of light.
i have xenia and mushrooms and some other weird coral i forget the name of on the same rock formation as this one. so strange that this is the only one to be effected.
