calcium test

I have been trying to do a calcium test and it keeps going into the purple range which isnt on the chart...goes up to dark blue...my calcuim test changed at 30 drops...which seems alot to me...can anyone help me on this one?

What kind of test kit are you using. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals? It is possible your test kit is bad. Try taking some water to the LFS and see what they get.

I have the same tesy kit and the expensive one too and they both read about the same,
30 drops is high, 25 is like 500 or so i think I think each drop goes up by a multiple of 20 but I have to double check that. I had the same problem and did a water change and got my calcium back into range

Not sure what kit you're using but, for example, the Salifert kit will show a purple color change first. You need to keep adding drops until the color changes to blue with no purple tint in order to get an accurate reading.
