My book says to only put them in a well established tank, that is for acro. I like the look of them both. In your opinions out there are these guys hardy, or should they be avoided? I have seen some really nice montipora that I would like, but just wanted to get feedback from you guys and gals.

The acros I have in my tank seem to be doing fine. They are definately slower growers and a bit more tempermantal to flow. If your leary of putting acros in, you could definately go a long way with monti cap., Monti digitata and milleporas. Mine are all growing like weeds

lol. I cant yet I am having a battle of tangs. I am hoping that they will stop soon. I netted my sailfin tang and held him captive so my PBT could explore. He was eating off the rocks an dchecking everything out. When I put the sailfin back he went after the PBT. They are going at eachother tail first. i guess because of the barbs.

How do you guys get past this type of situation? Do you leave the house or what?

i have a similar problem with my coral beauty. i just introduced a sailfin tang, and the coral beauty relentlessly attacks it.
before i put the sailfin in, the coral beauty bullied the spotted sand perch. something i thought would never happen.

actually, i'm hoping it will stop, but right now i feel like taking the coral beauty out and throwing it in the FOWLR tank with the triggers

unfortunately, the only trigger in there right now is a niger....i wouldn't be suprised if the coral beauty bullies him!

my old coral beauty bullied the daykights out of a flame angel I added. It did stop after a day or so. Neither fish died and lived in somewhat harmony for about 4 months before I decided to take the tank down. My coral beauty had a taste for my green star polyp. He was not invited to the new tank.

hmm..funny you say that. i noticed my green star was mangled this AM.
i was blaming it on the emerald crabs.
strange that he does this now, and he's been in my tank for weeks.

Mine did not bother it right away either. I started having some problems with my GSP, and started watching closely. One evening I found the little guy getting dessert. That was it for me. My green star even closed completely for a couple days. Coral beauty had to go. My flame angel had a likeing for my clam mantle, and would nip at my mushroom from time to time also. That coral beauty might be your problem. Keep a good eye on him.

Lucky for me he came out when I was taking the tank down. I did not have much live rock in at the time. Maybe 10 - 15 punds. At that point it was pretty easy. I have a pretty large net, and he pretty much just swam on in.
