Did you actually witness this? I have never heard of these fish going after something like a star. What else is in the tank?

my algae blenny accidently bites the tangs in what i consider a tiny "feeding frenzy" at the chip clip once in a while, but he has never bothered anything else. he has no interest in meaty foods either. are you sure the serpent star didn't just die on it's own? they sort of fall apart and disintegrate when they do, and you might not have known it was coming until it was too late.

my blenny also bites my tangs on the sides and leaves scars. My algea blenny eats anything that i put in for food, flakes, formula B, blood worms absolutely everything,
this blenny also has a tumor which makes him look so fat

Was it a reasonably old one? Lawnmower blennies are known for growing out of their vegetarian ways...
