i own one. he has found his way to the top of the tank. i am wondering if this is because of a lack of oxygen in the tank. i have read elsewhere that this may be a reason for it to hang at the top.
i am oxygenating the water with my skimmer (24/7 now), and i have a 700gallon return pump, 2 maxjet 12's and a big old aquaclear(802) that is rated at 400gph. (i also have 2 powerheads in the sump below, an aquaclear 50(200 gallons) in the fuge, and an aquaclear 20(100gph) in the return area- the water looked alittle too still in there for me.

anyways...what do you think?

It might be a lack of food. Do you know what their diet is?

Mr. X bought this star fish from the same place i bought mine and my orange tile star fish has done the same exact thing. made his way to the top of the tank, X does your starfish bend one arm out under the surface of the water? that is what mine is doing.
I have a red bali star that never acted this way. I hope we didn't get sick little critters.
let me know

I'm just wondering if the diet of that particular star requires something that may be lacking in our tanks- that's all! :)

they are scavengers. left over foods, algaes...things like that.
he fell from the top of the tank and then made his way to a rock tower. he's been there since. shavs...i have read about oxygenation. it might be an issue...i dunno.
