I have a newbie question regarding flow. Is it necessary to leave the powerhead on even after the lights are out? Since all of the corals are closed after the lights are off, doesn't seem that they need flow at all. Please advise.

it is best to keep your pumps on at all times.its not just for corals but to help blow away loose crap, left over food in such that can be bad for your tank if it has time to pile up and rot, causing high nitrates, phosphate, etc.

Def make sure you leave those pumps on. Good circulation is a VITAL part of keeping a tank. I've done several things to improve my tank and my best improvement has been added circulation. Not only do you need to leave the pumps on, but make sure you have enough circulation going.

i read you should almost never have standing water in the tank... the powerheads need to be on 24x7 to circulate the water. how much circulation depends on your tank size and the size of the powerhead i suppose.
