Does anyone have suggestions for an accurate and reliable heater for a 12g Nano tank. I've been using a Jager for my 46g, and I guess it's alright, but the temperature set on the dial seems to have very little bearing on the temperature it keeps the tank. It also holds a different temperature depending on how fully the heater is submerged. I know I shouldn't skimp when it comes to my aquarium, even the nano, but I'm loathe to get a second temperature controller. I'm not sure I really even need a heater. The tank's sitting at 75 degrees, so I'd only want to raise it a few degrees. I'll take opinions there as well.

Over the years it seems Visi-Therms have been the most accurate for me. That said, these days I use a Ranco temp controller as I don't trust my tank to a $20 piece of equipment. To be honest, I haven't had any Visi-Therms actually fail on me, but a few other brands have and at this point the controller just gives me peace of mind.

The temp thing is a big debate, but IME at 75 degrees you should be fine. This is arguably a bit cooler than natural temps for certain animals (depending on origin) but they seem to make the adaption with no problems IME.

What watt is the heater you have in the tank? If the wattage far outweighs the gallons, it will be off quite a bit. For instance, my Visi-Therm Stealth 300W in a 10G Quarantine tank set at 79-80* will keep the water at 83-85 since its so big.

In my main tank, I use two 100W Visi-Therm Stealths. Reason for this is that if one fails, the tank will never fall below 75*. And if one gets stuck on, the other will regulate the temp, and I will never see anything past 85* since its too small to heat the entire volume alone.

As far as Brands go, I am way against Finnex heaters, or any Titanium heater for that matter. A friend had THIS happen just a while ago.
