Hello guys,

I have been in the hobby for less than a year, but found this fantastic copper banded butterfly on the store and thought I was ready to keep it.

Tank wise all conditions are correct, however the little bugger is not eating and remains under a rock for most of the time

I have tried Nori (dried Algae), flakes, pellets but he is interested at all. Have tried frozen brine shrimp but he is not eating much as he stays in his corner and only peaks few which I think is not enough

Any advise would be much appreciated, I wouldnt like to lose the fish just because I did not know how to feed it properly

cheers

They can be difficult to feed initially. Problem is, if they don't eat soon, they waste away. Do you have a good amount of live rock in your tank for grazing? These fish will scour rock crevices for small crustaceans, worms, dusters, etc.. You can get some fresh clam or mussel and mince it up well. I've had butterflies go after whole clams placed in the tank. Go to a market and pick up a few steamer clams. Crack it open a bit and drop it in. Bear in mind how small the mouth is and make sure any food you offer is able to be consumed.

the fish died overnight. Maybe from starvation, although I had it for less than 4 days....

It did not show any signs of illness or bullying ....

Cheers anyway, thanks for all the help, I reckon I got valuable info out of this

Cheers
