Which overflow box should I get?

Hey guys,

I was originally going to build my own overflow box, but I found these ones really cheap:

Now which one should I get? or does it even matter? I have only a 55 gallon tank. Will I get any benefit for getting the one that has two hoses going to the sump?

You don't need one with dual drains as they are designed for very high flow. Don't get one that is rated for more then 25% of your return pump's output. The siphon will break when there is not enough flow.

Also, consider getting CPR's overflow boxes that have the optional airlift mini pump to help maintain siphon.

i agree. i have had both types, and i like the cpr best.

Well I ordered one that's ratted 800gph and I ordered a pump that is rated for just about the same amount at 4ft head. I was thinking of adding my own mini pump if I see that it's needed.

Well that was my initial intent, but since DIY ones are $20-30 assuming I make no mistakes, I figured to spend $10 more and get a commercial product.
