Ok, so I have some bubble algae. I've been siphoning it and it keeps coming back. I just read an article about it and mentioned the different herbivores that help the problem. I prefer a tang but my tank's too small (50 gallons). I'm considering an emerald crab but concerned about the safety of my corals.

Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

Emerald Crab shouldn't harm the corals & will eat bubble algae. I have one and hasn't bothered any of mine.

I wasn't sure if they were reef friendly or not. Thanks for verifying

Like most algae issues .. there isn't a quick cure. Manual removal combined with reduced nutrients will help alot. Emerald crabs and other livestock solutions are often a hit/miss effort. I suspect many/most who have bubble algae issues get used to having a nominal amt in their tanks once they get excess nutrients under control.

If you have a real bad case you can remove the worst rocks and scrub then in a bucket of SW ... just make sure you rinse the rocks off in a separate bucket of clean SW before placing back into the ST ... should make a big difference.

Good luck
