Hi all,

I am thinking of upgrading my tank size to a 125 (from a 29). Obviously a big step.

What do you think of the 125 size? It is 5' long, 18" deep, 25" tall (isn't funny that reefers think of "deep" as the front/back, not the water depth?). I have a good opportunity for a 125, so that is why I bring up that particular size.

Has anyone else experimented with that particular shape?

Are you sure it's a 125? My 120 has those dimensions. Most of the standard 125's are 72 inches long.

I think it's a nice size, particularly for an FO or FOWLR tank. If you like T-5 lighting it might also make a nice reef since 5' lamps are readily available in T-5.

IMO, for a reef, the "traditional" 120 (ie. 4' X 2' X 2') allows a bit more flexibility for rockscaping with the 24" depth and lends itself better to halide lighting, however, those are not necessarily significant issues depending on your preferences...
