Started cycling my tank on 4-21.

I have gone through a few algae blooms but have the pesky stuff well under control now. Has to be that new RO/DI :D

I do have a few things going now that are relatively new. From my reading I have identified one as Scroll algae and the other appears to be Sargassum. The sargassum is taking over 2 rocks.

Do you guys let this stuff grow in your display tanks or do you remove it?

If removed, should it go into my fuge? My fuge is a small HOB that has been running for 3 days now with Chaeto and red ogo.

Again, thx in advance.

It depends on if you like it or not. With a refugium, aglea in the display tank don't necessarily serve any purpose. Sargassum does get kinda scraggly when it gets big. At that point you can trim it back if you don't want to remove it completely.

Me personally, I kinda like the leafy plants growing. I removed them in my old tank and ended up missing them, so I'm going to try just pruning them as they get big this time.

Scroll algea can be a niussance in that it grows over corals and smothers them if their growth rate get too high, so be careful with that.
