does anyone have the outer orbit 2x150w 10,000k HQI w/ 2x130w dual acintics 6/LL on a 75 gallon? I have ordered the lights but can't find a tank picture for anything.

I'll have sps, stonies, clams etc in my reef. I hope this will be enough lighting. it's 7.5 watts for gallon.

That will be plenty of light for many SPS and clams.
I had the same light on a 120 gal mixed SPS/Softie tank. It is also a 4ft. tank, just taller and deeper.

that makes me feel better. thanks for posting your picture....one more thing, were you getting good coloration out of your reef. Sometimes things will look brown under the 10k's just curious.

I thought so, in this picture you can see some of my corals under those lights

I just had to keep the high-light requiring corals in the center under the halides, and the lower-light stuff on the edges. This will be less of an issue for you I think because your tank won't be as tall or as deep.

With 150 watt bulbs you will be somewhat limited in the corals you can keep, but you should still be able to keep a large enough variety to have a stunning reef.

just curious, what wattage heater did you use in your sump? I'll have the outer orbit lighting and refugium lighting as well... I'm concerned about heating. I'l be running open top though which should help.

Well, I don't think my tank will be a useful comparison for that.
That tank drained into my basement fish room which had another 250 gallons or so of sumps and frag tanks . The drop down into the basement cooled the water off so much that I didn't ever have any issues with heat.

It appears your lights are about 4-5 inches about water level. Did you get a lot of evaporation because of that?

Not particularly. But like I mentioned in a previous post, that tank drained into a large basement sump that cooled the water off considerably.

The lights on my current tank (2 x 250watt mh) are even closer to the water, but that tank is located in a finshed basement that stays cool year round, so its tough to say if I get a lot of evaporation, but I do get some. I haven't had any trouble with temperature though, but I keep my temp on the warm side to begin with.
