So my tank finally cycled and I added two chromis and installed my light fixture. I have 2X250 metal halide 10000k and 14000k and two 96 watt actinic bulbs. However, since I only have live rock and some fish I'm not running the metal halides. Last week the diatoms started to appear so I bought an RO (kent marine hi s) and did around a 50 percent water change. I know that this stuff eventuallly goes away, but is there anything I can do as far as adding some snails or fish that might eat the diatoms?

Thanks in advance

certain snails and crab are good at certain things. In my experience, the biggest contributor to algae blooms are from overfeeding and not using RO water.

In my 50 gallon, my cleanup crew consists 2 turbo snails, 2 emerald crabs, about a dozen hermit crabs, and me :D

turbo snails do a great job, but my biggest weapon against it is using RO water and not overfeeding.

It will pass with good water and a little time. You can blow some of it off the rock with a jet of water or a baster.
