Hi everybody,

Is there such a thing as having too much carbon? My tank setup is as follows:

100 Gal tank, fish only
2x Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filter 200's
1x Magnum 350 Filter Deluxe Canister Filter
2x Maxi-Jet Powerhead 1200's
2x Tetra Whisper Heater 200 Watts
2x Coralife 24 Inch Aqualight With 65 Watt 50/50 Lamp
1x AquaC Remora Pro Protein Skimmer With Mag-Drive 3

I guess my real question would be this.... I have carbon cartridges on both my penguin power filters, and also carbon inside the Magnum Canister. I change the carbon in the canister about every 2 weeks and put in the micron filter/polisher and run that for about 2 weeks, then back to the carbon after that.

Am I putting too much carbon in my tank? Or am I possibly doing the right thing by switching medias in the canister like I've been doing?

Thanks in advance

Sounds good to me.

Cleaning out the canister filter (or any power filter for that matter) frequently is definitely the way to go.
