I used a Rondomatic unit.

It worked okay, but humidity can make flake stick to it and not drop. I usually put some pellets in the bottom to help jettison the flake.

Overall, it worked pretty good.

You can definately use just pellets. They all drop 100% of the time.

Here's a link to the one I am referring too.

I've used that same unit, and other than the humidity issue, it worked very well. With flake food, it was only good for a couple days before the humidity got the flakes sticking together and sticking to the unit. With pellet food, it started sticking a little after 4-5 days, but it would still get at least half the food into the tank on most occassions. Realize that it's also kind of big, so make sure you're going to have space for it.

I currently use this Eheim feeder: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4430+4460&pcatid=4460, and although it isn't as susceptible to humidity. If I use pellet food, it doesn't seem to have any issues. It will still stick a little in Florida humidity with flake food, though.
