adding fish

Ok i am definately a newbie (hence posting on the new reefkeepers forum) i have read in a few posts about people adding fish and driping them to get them acclimated to the water in your tank. How do you go about doing that? i don't think you are goign to stand there with an eye dropper...lol just a question

IME i use a bait bucket that you would put shinners in. I pour the fish and the water it is in into the bucket.I then take an air line, One that you would use on an air pump. I then syphone from the tank, then tie a knot into the air line . The tighter the knot the slower the drip, the longer the acclimation takes. About an hour is good :wink:

You can also just use those elcheapo plastic air line regulators to limit the drops rather than tying a knot in the line, they work great.

I use one of those regulators too. Their more reliable and controllable than a knot is, plus they are cheap. You can pick one up from lowe's or home depot when you get the airline tubing...

I think it is meant for drip irrigation systems, but it works for drip acclimation as well.
