hello people, just going to share something about the tank i am starting up. its my first time attempting a marine tank and i just got done doing a test run with tap water to check for leaks and wat not. ran into a couple of problems while doing this, the first was that the ground we originally wanted to place the tank on was unleveled. should have checked it earlier but, eh. and second the strainer i fitted on the overflow pipes resricted flow so much i had to take them off. anyone have any good ideas to resolve the gound being unleveled problem? i was thinking some kind of spacers maybe?
well i will think of a solution later...anywho this is what my tank as of rite now is.
65 gallon tank w/ a wooden stand. it came with some crappy @ss lights and a glass canopy.
aqua c skimmer, the 180 one with a rio 2100 pump to run it.
ehiem return pump i think it is a 1282...idk but its rated for 900 gph with some amount of head pressure.
3inch icecap fan to cool the tank (idk i dont want to get a chiller, but i live in hawaii, maybe this will be enough)
two 100 watt hagen heaters for those suprise freezing nights here in hawaii.
a aqua jr. controller with the dc8, pH probe and temp probe.
vortec pump with that battery thing.
and a ato system.
all that fits cramply in a 30 gallon sump/refugium i made out of acrylic.
oh, and i picked up a 10 dollar light bulb with built in reflector thingy with a make your own lamp kit to light the refugium.
for the overflow system i used 1inch schedule 40 pipes, i drilled two holes at either end of the tank and got bulkheads. the overflow rate i beleive would be around 552 gph.
