Algae problem

I have started a 55 gallon around 10 months ago and over the last few months have a serious hair algae growth problem. I have been using NOVA extreme T5s 2X39W-actinic (7 hrs/day) and 2X39W 10Ks (4 hours/day). I use RO/DI water with TDS monitor. I have only 3 small fish, a couple of softs and my nitrates, nitrites are zero with a normal pH. I have tried reducing lighting times, buying new bulbs, more frequent water changes, and better water flow-no luck in fixing the problem.

Any other thoughts to get rid of this algae?

Mr. X spelled it out really well in this thread. Regardless of the type of algea in your tank, the underlying problem is pretty much the same.

If the algea has really taken hold, it may take some time for it's internal nutrient stores to extinguish. Keep up with it and good luck.
