Is there a way?

I added 2 large turbos 2 days ago. I have 2 red-legged hermits. Today, 1 of the hermits was wearing 1 of the turbo's shells and was attacking one of my other large snails.

Should I just use shrimps and snails for my cleaning crew?

Bad, bad, hermit crabs!!!

Theory 1: Crabs are very opportunistic. They'll kill to get what they need, but they'll also avoid confrontation if they already have it. Make sure you have a couple, larger empty shells for them to grow into. Then, they should ignore your living snails (unless there's a food shortage too).

Theory 2: Crabs love the dead and dying. If your new snails didn't happen to handle transit very well, hermit crabs seem to be able to pick up on that and will move in for the kill.

hermit crabs are just evil, but I keep them in my tank and have to buy new snails every couple of months.

I have been without hermits for nine months without problems.

I quickly tired of buying more snails.
