this might be stupid but since my new tank does not have a built in overflow i had my tank drilled. but my thing is i don't want a white pvc pipe in there it will stand out like a sor thump. so is it safe to paint the pvc black and not hurt anything, or do they have plexie glass that you can get i black? again this might be stupid question but i just want to be safe.

If you use paint that is safe, it should be alright, but keep in mind that paint will comes off if not done properly. Eventually, it will be cover with coralline so what color you paint it is not important.

Alteratiavely, you can use black PVC pipe or other color like gray. Or just use a plastic sleeve to cover up.

Krylon Fusion is a popular type of paint for PVC in aquaria. I've used it in my 46 gallon with no problems. As dupaboy mentioned, you can also buy black or even clear PVC, but it can be difficult to find locally. I've heard of people finding the black PVC at Lowes and Home Depot, but I think it's pretty rare. What they do have is grey PVC. You'll find it in the electrical section. Don't worry, it's your standard SCH40 PVC, just like the white stuff. . .except grey. It's going to stick out more than black, but possibly not as much as white.

again this is stupid but today at work i saw this guy spraying some conduit in the ground before the poured the floor. i went over to it and it was the spray bomb for that bed liner stuff. do you think that would hurt anything once it is the tank.(of course after it dries). think it would give a nice texture look to blend in with the live rock and it will be black? let me know what you think

Use the purple PVC primer. Reef safe and will look like coraline algae.
