Most lobsters available are opportunistic omnivores. This means they will occasionally eat anything that presents itself a target. The second big issue it most of these lobsters do get large and live for quite a while. Thirdly, they are nocturnal and fairly cryptic.

I would personally lean towards a purple lobster or a slipper lobster for most tanks.

My purple lobster ate my yellowwatch man goby in less than 3 hours - that was my fault too; i introduced the goby late at night, and as cindre2000 said, most lobsters are opportunistic omnivores and will occasionally eat anything that present itself a target. well my goby was not familiar with his new house and just went straight to hell :(

I would not get a lobster unless you have a huge tank and plenty of rocks!

Best,
