I have a red star fish. I noticed yesterday that 1 of his legs seems to be melting away. I have done a water change. Everything else in my tank is fine. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions ?
I will try to get a pic if possible.
Thank you.
The tank is a 8 gallon nano.

If it's "melting" that means that the animal is disintegrating. if it's just the leg, you should be able to cut it away cleanly, but if it's into the central disk it's dying and should be removed. Honestly, in my opinion, since that's what is happening I don't think it's long for this earth anyway. Sorry.

I don't know if there's a good online article like at Reefkeeping.com on stars? That would make a good article. But it seems once a star gets sick it seems to spread throughout their body quickly. I've never tried or heard of cutting away limbs. It's almost like the flu... it spreads quickly and there's no stopping it IME.
