You don't want to skimp in this area. This isn't a cheap hobby... but for a hangon, AcquaC Remora Pro is a good one. Deltec has a hangon but it's spendier.

jebo is junk. i'd pick a remora pro over a jebo, but i wouldn't pick a remora pro either i only say this because i've had a bad experience with the remora.
if you are shopping for price, look for a used skimmer.
i like the aqua medic turbofloater 1000, if you must go hang-on. bear in mind that most hang on skimmers will have a large pump hanging in the tank.

what is cheap? some people seem to like these coralife skimmers-

there are many in-sump skimmers that can be recommended, but very few hang on styles.

FWIW, I started with a hang on skimmer. I was intimidated by the plumbing involved in setting up a sump, but when I did it was well worth it. I used simple designs that I could understand and it took out all the ugly equipment in the display tank.

The drawback with the AquaC is that they're very loud

I feel the best bet is to add a sump and get a really good skimmer. When i first started I bought a cheap skimmer and paid for it in all kinds of livestock loss.
