so i am new to the saltwater realm. I've got a turtle and a few fish in that freshwater 60 gal tank.

I happened to win a 29 gallon bio cube. I put about 30 lbs of live rock in with 40 lbs of live sand. The bubble anemone was added and i put it on a rock in the tank where the light would hit it. Now the bubble has moved all around the tank until it came to rest in the darkest cave of my rocks.

Is it hiding from the light for a reason?

Just heard that most bubbles (if they aren't roses) will run from light and end up dying and ruining your entire tank.

I am completely gracious for all of you that help us newbs! THANK YOU!

Ive had fairly good success with BTA's so far.

I currently have a RBTA that has done like yours and moved all over the place. I think it's finally found a place it likes.

If it is moving it doesn't mean that that your water is off or something like that... they are just picky. Ive found that mine have been more picky about flow than lighting. They tend to move to a lower flow area reguardless of the lighting .. at least in my limited experience.

arip609,

:welcome:

Anemones are extremely senstive to water quality, which is why most do not do well in newly estabished tanks. You need to test your water and see what the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are. If it is still cycling, i.e. with any detectable ammonia or nitrite you need to do large water changes and bring those levels down (the solution to pollution is dilution) or risk loosing the anemone. Large water changes will help, just be sure that the Ph, Sg and temp are all as close as possible to the tank water.

Good luck!

How long has the tank been set up for?

Just heard that most bubbles (if they aren't roses) will run from light and end up dying and ruining your entire tank.

If it is moving around your tank be sure not to have any exposed powerhead intakes or your anemone might end up getting a nice blending.

BTA can be very hardy if added to the right system. I like to feed mine with krill once every 2-3 days. Good luck with it.
