I am looking for an alternative to just refilling the tank with distilled water every morning from the evaporation loss...

Does anyone have any suggestions on a possible drip setup or something similar? Any links to articles or other threads would help.

I find using a Litermeter for evap topoff to be very reliable and failsafe, but there are cheaper solutions - especially for small tanks.

Something like this would be a relatively affordable "fully automated" option:

...but there's a whole slew of auto topoff products to choose from these days, for example:

One of the cheapest options would be a small vacuum pump like this controlled by a digital appliance timer (the kind that does 1 minute intervals). I've used these to topoff small tanks and feed ca reactors and they seem to work well, although they often need to be replaced after a year or two of continuous use and can't handle much vertical head pressure...

Do a search on the board and you should turn up a bunch of info.

Dripping Kalk is one of cheapest solution. I set up the timer and Tom's Aqua lifter pump only becase I could never get the drip rate to stay constant.
