how is it different than say...womens stockings?

aside from from any marketing hype that claims them to be "specifically designed"

if anyone has any data of sorts that shows these to be superior, i would consider them above stockings.

its not that i am trying to be cheap, just frugal. since i do not have any form of removing large particles at the moment, this is a corner that does not seem to be costly to cut

Filter socks are usually 1 or 5 micron, Ladys Hose are for taken off and then making love, or for the wash mashine lint discharge!!!!!!

I'm not sure what micron size a stocking would be, but the micron bags/filters typically used for reef aquaria are in the 50 to 200 micron range with 100 micron being the most common size.

I've used stockings for media bags in the past (to hold carbon and such) but I'm not sure how well they would hold up as a filter sock...

Hey, why not use terry cloth? Take some old towels.....

I'll bet I could customize them to fit my sump better, and they would be easier to turn inside out to wash.
