I had one... a PRIME... good brand... ended up being too loud, the housing was a flimsy plastic so it vibrated a lot. Plus it wouldn't really fit under my stand. I ended up with a $20 Azoo 4-fan unit that dropped my temps. from 85 to 72'F. I of course don't want 72 but that's how low it dropped my 90 gal over night. So you can save a lot of money and use fans.

haha, nice. Yeah I read the noise issue with the prime. I know the one I got might not be the best but we'll see if it does the job, plus I'm pretty close to my power consumption on that circuit anyways so it was probably good that I went with a low wattage unit.

I use fans right now and they work great but I have to keep the a/c on all summer and I would like to get rid of the fan noise from my living room.

I read all over how they were quiet. I think they ALL make noise. They're basically window A/C units and sound about like that. Doesn't matter if you're one of these guys with everything in the garage or basement.

My fans are under a wood cabinet hood so I don't hear anything. Saved a helluva lot of money. Chillers are expensive. Right now it's fine. If you get something 150 gal and up probably have to do more than fans. Most people that get really big tanks have all the high-end stuff anyway.
