Hi , I am arjun from India.
I am having freshwater tanks for past 4 years .
I was always attracted towards marine and I am reading resources from the web from past few months.
Still i am in a double mind whether to start a reef tank or not.
Whats your opinion for me ? How should i start ?
Mine tank size would be 3ft x 1.5ft x 1.5 ft.
It would take more 4-5 months to start my tank , I am currently in just a planning stage.

Taking time to plan everything out is the BEST way you can go about setting up for marine. Your dimensions will limit what you can keep, but you absolutely can do it. Have you got any books on marine fishkeeping? Do you plan to go directly to reef without trying fish-only first? (Many people try fish first, then move on to invertebrates.)

Oh yeah... :D

:welcome:

I went reef first when I started, but Seamaiden's right, take it gradually and do all the reading you can, as you are doing.

Whereabouts in India are you? I have a friend in Delhi who has a small reef tank. I think his main problem is getting hold of coral, as there isn't a great selection available in the shops he's been to. He keeps his eyes open for interesting coral hitchhikers on live rock to try and increase the variety of stuff he can get.

go with as large a water volume as your space and budget allow. More water equals more stability, which is important when you are starting out in this hobby.

:D Best of luck to you!

Ravan, not sure if you've found them yet, but the links in the stickied threads at the top of the Newbie Forum might be a good place to start looking. Also, the Advanced Aquarist (see link at the top of the page) has a useful search function and, although some of the info might be a bit advanced, there's a lot which even the beginner can learn.#

Good luck!

You need some books. Hit the recommended reading link that's somewhere around here... sorry, I don't know where they put it. Cripes, I can't find it. Try the Library link up top. Also, use this site: http://www.wetwebmedia.com
