RO setup question

My house is on well water. We use a water softening system (the kind w/salt). Would there be a problem installing and RO/DI unit on a tap that puts out the softened water...or would it need to be on a tap that runs straight well water?

I don't have a TDS meter yet, but I can tell you the straight well water will leave a nice, thick white build-up of minerals on the glass it is so hard.

The salt in water softener may be counter-productive for the RO. Find out what kind of mineral you want the softener to remove in the well water (usually hard mineral like Ca or Mg) if your local geological info is handy.
