Hi All, first post.

I'm new to Reefkeeping, although I have previous experience with tropical tanks.

I'm doing some research before I buy anything for my tank. I'm looking at a small tank for now (ive read many suggestions about getting the biggest I can afford, however I will be moving possibly interstate in two years and wouldn't be able to move anything large - plus if i upgrade i will use the small tank for something else i'm sure), currently just looking around at all my options.

I was hoping to get some suggestions from pro's at what sorts of plants would be great to have. Looking at focusing the tank around a pair of H.Erectus Seahorse. I've read they are one of the easier to look after and therefor a good starting point. Also hoping to have a few snails or other bottom feeders, maybe a small star or something to deal with waste and algae. Does anyone have any suggestions for plants I should look at getting that would go well with this setup? Again, it would be a smallish tank (but big enough for a pair of seahorse, not gonna neglect em :p) but i love the idea of having a few sponges or other plants for the seahorse to cling to.

Also, if you have any ideas for suggested reading on the care of seahorses, id love to know. I'm looking at getting some of the books from the suggested reading post, but also want something seahorse specific.

Hi there and :welcome:

I don't have experience of keeping seahorses myself, but one of the members here is also a leading light on http://www.seahorse.org/. You might want to check it out for specialist info.

Hehe I actually had that site open just now :)

Thanks for the response, hopefully be able to update this post with my initial draft plan for the tank. Still long way off though, want to do all the necessary research first.

Looking forward to it! Seahorses are intriguing wee beasties. 8)
