Im thinking of adding see grass or some marco alge to my tank (like the maiden's hair).

I just think it looks nice.

I have some questions:

1) What kind of lighting is needed for groth? (i have some plant grow bulbs i got from home dept, are those enugh?)

2) Is it posible to make more indeviduals through a process like fragmentation or vegitative propigation?

3) Is there a down side to having macro alge in the display? Sea Grass?

4) Anything that i might not have conicered?

5) do you have this in your tank? would you put it in?

Im confused.
Please let me know if i understood you corectly.

"harvest a little at a time to keep it from taking over with out killing it"?

Thats what i understood of your advice. did i get it right?

he means if you pull some out every so often, you will soon have a tank full of nothing but seagrass. Not a big deal if that's what you are going for.

no it grows quickly. people who want just a little sea grass in their reef tanks have to keep pulling it out because it grows so fast. Otherwise it will overgrow the tank like crab grass.

I grow macro in my display (not sea grass or maidens hair).
I have to remove at least 1/2 of it every other week to keep it at bay.
I don't mind doing it, it looks great, and gives my fish a place to search for pods- which hang out in it like crazy!
It all depends on how much work you want to put into your tank.:splitspin

I have algea of some sort on my rock s and left it there for the tangs to graze but that doesn't grow. If it did I didn't notice it could that be a potential problem in the system?
