over flow question

i have a 125 gallon tank with two overflow boxs. how offtin do you clean to tubes going to thw sump 1 time a year?

As far as i know you should not have to.. There is a nice amount of flow in there. And the other part is very hard to get into them with all the pipe in there. And you dont want to pull out the pipes, you will flood your sump. I might be wrong with this but this is what i was told.
