over flow help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got the 125 filled started it up everthing is fine put the noise coming from the right side overflow is driving my crazy. it sound like rushing water i can see it ruch in then stop then when ruturn happens the water rushes in again it is only the one side i dont know why it the one side the pipe goes down into the sump i have a ball valve on it but i dont know if i can close it some i dont want to flood my house .can i cut the down tube so it sits a little lower in the overflow box or add i tee at the end of it for some back pressure. what do you think ?i will post pics tonight to show what i am talking about please help my wife is going to kill me if i dont get rid of this noise.:letitallo
